Curriculum Overview

Our core values, drawn up by our school community, are so important to us here at Gainford Primary that we believe a Character Education is the best way to maximise progress, work together as a team, inspire learning and nurture talent so that all can flourish .We live these values throughout the curriculum and through our everyday activities.

The school’s curriculum provides well-organised, imaginative and effective opportunities for learning and a broad range of experiences which contribute well to the pupils’ development and well-being. The curriculum is adjusted effectively to meet the needs of the range of pupils taught in the school. The school follows the curriculum as set out in the National Curriculum orders, for children of the age range 5 to 11 years and this is differentiated for individual needs.

This curriculum is taught through a combination of a subject-based and a thematic approach. Our Reception children follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.

Access the tabs to find out about our curriculum, how we plan for progression and how our curriculum is character driven.

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
At Gainford Church of England Primary and Pre-School, we believe that inclusive education means providing all pupils with appropriate education and support alongside their peers. The Curriculum is all the planned activities that the school organises in order to promote learning, personal growth and development. If you would like to discuss your SEND requirements in detail please contact the school to arrange an appointment.
