Geography
Geographical skills are developed and knowledge extended through the National Curriculum using class topics. Questions are posed such as ‘What/Where is it?’ ‘What is it like?” How did it get like this?’ The work is based not only on second hand experiences via books, pictures and DVD’s and websites, but also on direct experiences, practical activities and work in the locality of the school. Children have regular offsite visits to promote their geographical skills and knowledge which include use of the school grounds and local visits for the younger children and leads to residential visits for the older children. The school has built up links with a range of countries and in recent years has had teachers and students placed at the school from Japan, Italy, Russia and Germany.
